I always wear my Marine Corps sweatshirt and I have a liscense plate that says "My heart belongs to a US Marine". Plus other things. I love to show my pride. How do you all show your pride?

I love the fact that no matter who I meet who has a loved one in the military, there's an immediate bond with that person. We just understand each other. What do you like?

This is a letter I decided to write to a man I never got to meet, but has helped change my life for the better. This man is Patrick's dad, who unexpectedly passed away 10 years ago today.
Patrick was 10 years old, and his sister Caitlin was 13. I can't imagine losing one of my parents being that young.
I've been emotional since I found out that the anniversary was today. I told Patrick I cried when I found out via a picture of the gravestone that Caitlin posted on facebook. He said he cried when he saw it too, and of course that only made my cry harder.
I hate being so far away from him, today of all days.

Mr. G,
Unfortunately, you don't know me, though every day I wish I could have met you.
Your wife tells stories about you all the time, so I kind of feel like I know you despite the impossibility.
Your children are amazing people, and I am more than blessed to have them in my life. You didn't get nearly as long as you should have, but thank you so much for your part in raising them. I wish you could see the amazing adults they turned out to be.
Though I love both of them dearly, I must say, being his girlfriend, I'm partial to Patrick.
From pictures I see that Patrick gets his looks from you. I swear he could be your clone, only he has blonde hair. And Mrs. G tells me he has your sense of humor. His sense of humor is what mainly made me fall for him, so thank you for that.
Though I didn't get the chance to meet you, I do get to experience what you left for the world, your family. For that, I love you.
I pray you would have approved of me.
With much love,
Jacqui
Rest in peace Kelly G.
