I love the fact that no matter who I meet who has a loved one in the military, there's an immediate bond with that person. We just understand each other. What do you like?

Here is something to keep in mind if you have a loved one deployed. An Air Force Service member just wrote me this today:

"Also, just a tip that might be helpful to others.  I love homemade cookies, and my mom likes to send me homemade cookies.  The problem is that it takes two weeks to get here.  ZipLock now makes vacuum seal bags that you can get from any grocery store.  You just seal them, pull a plastic adhesive tab back, use any vacuum hose to suck out all the air and then close the adhesive tab back over it.  This will keep the cookies fairly fresh even for weeks at a time.  The more air that you can get out of the bag the better they keep.

Peanut butter cookies also seem to keep fresh the longest.  Yes, I love my homemade cookies. ;-)"

Good Tip!
