I always wear my Marine Corps sweatshirt and I have a liscense plate that says "My heart belongs to a US Marine". Plus other things. I love to show my pride. How do you all show your pride?

I love the fact that no matter who I meet who has a loved one in the military, there's an immediate bond with that person. We just understand each other. What do you like?

Althought he is not here,I still want to keep close to his family. His mother really likes me, we can relate in many things. His little brother and sister show so much love towards me. But I'm afraid that I will be bugging them. How should I approach them? He was home for a 3 week leave and that's when me and his family's bond grew stronger, but now he won't be home until, well hopefully right before deployment in October, and I want to keep talking to them those couple of months that he will not be here. Is there any suggestions or similar cases? Maybe im just shy, im usually not. I really don't want there to be no communication. I feel that it's right to keep a close relationship.

Comment by Joshlyn Wallace on March 9, 2012 at 9:10am I wish I could be close w/ Tommy's "family" which is really just his mom, brother, and I think there's a step sister in there. But HE'S not even close w/ his family. He was very close w/ his grandmother but she passed away several years ago. I wish she was still alive, I would love to still be in contact w/ her. But yeah, I wish I could be close w/ his mom, and that he was close to his mom. He really has almost no support in his life. I've really been his biggest support this whole time. Yes he talks to his mom regularly, but apparently it's not a very warm comforting conversation, apparently it's very general.
Comment by Janice on March 8, 2012 at 10:52pm I had the same problem when my boyfriend and I started dating, but once he deployed me and his mom started texting daily, everytime one of us got an update from him just to keep eachother updated. They'll probably appreciate you wanting to be close to them and wanting to contact them so dont feel weird, you definitely wont be bugging them! theyll love you more for it!

This has made me feel much better and more confident! Its to late to send them a text tonight, so tomorrow morning i will! :) I'll let ya in on our relationship! Its just the first step that is the hardest!
Comment by Alyssa B. on March 8, 2012 at 10:15pm I would just call them or text them and ask to go over there one night just to catch up. Going out to dinner would be a good idea too! Maybe they think that they may be bugging you so they do not want to take that first step. Don't worry they would prob love to see you!
