I love the fact that no matter who I meet who has a loved one in the military, there's an immediate bond with that person. We just understand each other. What do you like?

6 months ago today, Patrick and I celebrated 2 months together.
6 months ago today, I had my first of many break-downs involved with being an army girlfriend. I had just realized he was leaving in a week. What made it hit me right then? We shared our first kiss the night before. My first kiss. To this day I wonder if he realized how important that was to me. Especially since it happened where we met, where he first asked for my phone number, and where he asked me to be his…

I Am Going Nuts! Some One PLEASE help me!!!
I work two jobs Target and Mcdonnals so that I can pay off my school debt. I've been working at Mcdonnalds since Aug. 2011 and Target is going on my 3rd week. The last two mornings I've been sent home from work at Mcdonnalds. Yesterday was for well nothing actually. I was trying to talk to my Asst, Store manager about how one of the managers on Sunday night had been sexually harassing me. Instead he walks away in the middle of what I am saying and shrugs it off I say maybe I should just…

Loved One Deploying Soon?
When a loved one deploys it is a very sad ordeal. It is tough to think of the holidays they will miss and all the memorable times they will miss out on. So, I decided to share these holidays and memorable times with my boyfriend, Mike, before he left! How you might ask? Well, I threw him a surprise "All Holidays Party"! I took it upon myself to let Mike share all the holidays with our family and loved ones even though they weren't technically on the holiday. I don't like the fact…

Seven ways to talk yourself down when you're at the end of your rope...
"When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on" FDR
1. Remind yourself that he is missing you as much as you are missing him.
2. Think about how much he is worth the wait, and how good it will feel to be in his arms again.
3. Sit down and write him a letter. Not on the computer, but a real letter in your handwriting. Just think how happy he will be when he gets mail!
4. Remember, these moments of weakness come and go, but tomorrow is a new…

What do you love about your loved one?
People fall in love for many reasons! What are the some of the things that you love about your SO? Do you love the little things about them? What is it you miss most when their gone?! I love everything about Conner whether its how he treats me, his personality, or all of the common things people mention about their loved ones. But on the other hand I love the little things as well, things no one but me would ever miss. Sometime's its the little things I come across that make me love him…

Disgusting Habits
Does anyone's boyfriend, fiance', or husband have any disgusting habits that really annoy you, but once they're gone you miss those habits?
Personally, my fiance' does some of the most disgusting things ever! He dutch ovens me (which he has the WORST gas problem EVER), he wipes his boogers on me, he snores really loud and he ALWAYS wants me to rub his head so he can fall asleep.
These annoy me a lot when he's home, but once he's gone, I really miss these things. Even the really…

it does get better
It's almost been 2 months since my husband left for deployment and day by day it does get better. Not saying I enjoy it or want this to happen again anytime soon after he returns....but I'm coping well. Which is good considering that I'm pretty alone here. My husband's unit is stationed pretty far from our apartment and a good majority of the ladies and gentlemen in the unit are local to the units location. So I don't have much contact with other wives and husbands of our soldiers in this…

This describes the S/O's of a military soldier perfectly.
This is for those of us who would rather wear dog tags than diamonds.
For those of us who still sleep with stuffed animals, just because he
got them for us.
This goes out to those of us who never lets go of her cell phone.
This goes out to those of us whose heart swells with pride every time
the national anthem is played.
This goes out to the proud women who stand tall behind a United States
soldier.
We sit and we wait, for a letter, or…

I am a Military girlfriend
I am a military girlfriend. I hold no formal recognition with the powers that be I am at the bottom of the chain. I hold no Military ID card; I am not a dependent or a parent. The man I love may face unspeakable dangers and I am at the mercy of those who possess this recognition for news. I understand this and accept this. I have promised to be here for him upon his return no matter how long he is away. They may say I am insane for making such a commitment, but I hold onto our promises and…

Military Documents
After 23+ years involved in the Military life, the most important thing I have learned is this - KEEP EVERYTHING!
Documents will be lost, misplaced, needed...
If you own a scanner, I suggest scanning everything that you ever receive (or download). Take advantage of external storage sites, like Google Docs. The documents can be accessed through any internet connection, and be saved privately (you have to change the settings to do this). You access it with your own account,…

Don't worry - it is NORMAL!
If you are wondering if the emotions you are experiencing as you go through a deployment are "normal", stop worrying - they are! Every person will have a different range of emotions, different reactions - and life goes on around you as you go through all this.
Here is a helpful article from military.com that might help you.
Pre-Deployment Phase (6-8 weeks prior to deployment). Feelings in this stage may include fear, anger, denial, resentment, excitement, and…
