I always wear my Marine Corps sweatshirt and I have a liscense plate that says "My heart belongs to a US Marine". Plus other things. I love to show my pride. How do you all show your pride?

I love the fact that no matter who I meet who has a loved one in the military, there's an immediate bond with that person. We just understand each other. What do you like?

Permalink Reply by Jacqui Miret on February 17, 2012 at 10:11pm Along with writing letters and sending him care packages, do something that involves thinking. Taking your mind and putting it toward something else.
You could start writing! Where you can create a different world where anything you see fit can happen.
Theatre is good. Your mind would be busy with your character and everything around that person.
Childcare. Focus your attention on little ones. Keeping them safe and happy.
Always keep yourself surrounded by friends. Friends that don't mind and support you when you just need to break down in tears.
But don't take my word as gospel. I've never been through a deployment. But I have been through long stretches of time where I can't contact my boyfriend in any way. I understand that it's completely different, but these are things I did to help me get through, and they continue to help me through.
Permalink Reply by Erin Brooke on February 18, 2012 at 1:43am Stay SUPER busy! Figure out something that you want to accomplish while he is away and put your focus on that. Set goals for yourself! Send him as much as possible!!! That's the only thing keeping him strong while hes over there and away from you, plus its kinda fun to do cute and crafty things for him!!! Make a list of things during the day that you wanna tell him about just in case you cant remember when he does call! Stay connected to other SO's because they will be your best moral support! The busier you stay the faster time will fly by! If you ever need someone to talk to or have questions just ask! :)
Permalink Reply by Kelly T on March 18, 2012 at 3:02pm Hiya I wrote on your page, I feel alone too in the sense I dont know anyone else in the same situation. My bf's deployment crept up pretty quick but we had a good last weekend together, I like to say the sooner he goes the sooner he will be home xx
