I always wear my Marine Corps sweatshirt and I have a liscense plate that says "My heart belongs to a US Marine". Plus other things. I love to show my pride. How do you all show your pride?

I love the fact that no matter who I meet who has a loved one in the military, there's an immediate bond with that person. We just understand each other. What do you like?

There's always something our men have said to us, that we replay the moment he said it over and over again in our minds.
For me it's the last time I saw him. I was a total mess because I didn't know when I'd see him again. He simply held me and kept saying "I love you. I'll always come back for you, don't worry."
Be it positive, negative, or even neutral, what has your man said that has stuck with you?

Permalink Reply by Abril Adams on February 25, 2012 at 9:57pm "Be strong for me"...he said it the morning he left. And it replays in my mind over and over. He also says "I'll be home to you as soon as I can" when he can tell I'm a bit bummed or overwhelmed. He has also been stationed in Germany for a long time and when we started talking he called me "schatzi" which is like "honey" in German. The Sunday before his R&R was up we were in church and he wrote "ich liebe dich mein schatzi" (I love you my honey/baby whichever) on a piece of paper. It was so hard not to burst into tears in the middle of the sermon ! lol but that moment replays in my head alot too. I taped the little paper he wrote it on to a little keychain flashlight on my set of keys. That is something I always look at or remember him saying as well which helps cheer me up too.
Permalink Reply by Jacqui Miret on February 25, 2012 at 10:07pm Aww! I love it! For some reason, I find expressing love in languages other than your natural one very sweet. Through BCT Patrick was being taught some Spanish by somebody in his BN. That means a lot to me because I'm Cuban (first generation from both sides to be born in America).
Growing up my grandmothers always talked to me sweetly in Spanish. I call him 'mijo' (It's short for "mi ijo" which means "my son", but when it's comes from a girl that isn't his mother, it means honey/sweetheart). He calls me "mi amor" which means "my love".
Anyway, sorry for the random tangent.

Permalink Reply by Abril Adams on February 25, 2012 at 10:22pm No I love it ! That is so sweet ! I agree that there's something really sweet and romantic about stepping out of the norm and finding new or creative ways to express your love. And I love other languages !! That's one perk of him having been there is he will randomly say a word in German or reply with an easy sentence in German. It's fun to learn and it's very similar to English sometimes so when I don't know we laugh at my guesses lol Spanish is a BEAUTIFUL language. I want to learn it someday. I can read it and understand it when spoken but I don't speak it very well but my daughter is half spanish and her fathers family speak it to her and I'm like "I want to learn too ! " lol ...speaking of tangents =X hehe

Permalink Reply by Jacqui Miret on February 25, 2012 at 10:32pm Hahaa! That's how I figured out what you said your hubby wrote before I read the translation. I was sitting here going "Alrigh... I know 'Iich liebe' means I love you, and she just said 'schatzi' is honey"
It feels like you're solving a math problem when you're trying to translate it on your own. lol

Permalink Reply by Abril Adams on February 25, 2012 at 10:37pm Lol it is like a math problem ! Luckily he types it now and doesn't speak it so I can look at the word and think "ok...a couple of these he's said before I just have to remember what they mean...and then figure out what the rest of this means" it's a word puzzle every time lol

Permalink Reply by Gris on February 26, 2012 at 12:14am Don't know if this counts, but when we are on the phone, or on skype, we say Besito (Kiss) then we blow a kiss, and hang up. We even do it when he calls to wake me up to get on Skype, I get on Skype, and we are still on the phone, blowing kisses, then hang up, but still on Skype. haha.
