I love the fact that no matter who I meet who has a loved one in the military, there's an immediate bond with that person. We just understand each other. What do you like?

When our oved ones are away we have to hold on to our memories. Are there any special days that you replay? For me there are too many. I dont think of one day but all the little things I miss. I miss running and jumping into his arms everyday after work. One day that sticks out in my head is when we got our favorite chipotle and golden spoon and went down to Dana Point to watch Dexter at the beach. People probably thought we were crazy but we just layed on a blanket and watched Dexter. Then after we just layed there laughing in the sun and wrestling, again probably looking crazy.

I can think of a thousand best days with him, but one of the very best was the day he proposed :)
We were at his family's thanksgiving and I had no idea it was going to happen :)
One of his cousins said everyone please look to the middle of the room and he took my hand and lead me into the middle of the circle that had formed. He got down on one knee and told me all the things he loved about me and asked me to marry him :)
It was one of the most amazing moments <3
Permalink Reply by Maggie Whaley on May 6, 2012 at 5:09pm My favorite memory is probably the last night he was home before pre-deployment training. He asked me if I was up for a "hike". Both of us are fairly fit, he in the Marines and I a college Lacrosse player and going into the Navy. The hike was more than I had imagined it would be! Haha, he was surprised I kept up with him :P when we finally got where we were going, to me, all I saw was a long line of railroad tracks. I didn't understand why he brought me there and why we were in such a hurry. Not too long after getting there, he grabbed my hand and started walking down the tracks explaining it was the "little things" like this that he'll miss. Then he looked at his watch and said ok, get on the side. We walked over to the side of the tracks and sat down within 5 minutes, a train came by. We sat there awhile and talked after it went by just staring at the stars. He explained that this was his favorite spot and that very few people had ever wanted to make the journey out there besides his sister and brother who owned the property. It was the night I truely and ineviatably fell in love with my Marine,
Permalink Reply by Mary Ann on May 10, 2012 at 8:52am The first time he saw me all dressed up when he was home. It was valentines day. He walked up to me and wrapped his arms around me and said "Wow, you look beautiful, but you don't need to dress up to impress me. You look beautiful in your jeans and t-shirt." When I got home from school, He gave me chocolate and his dog tags for valentines day and took me to dinner. It may have been small but it ment the world to me.
Permalink Reply by Kelley Pace on May 14, 2012 at 9:21am The best day I have had would def have to be homecoming 12/29/11 from our first 7 month deployment! It was like we just picked up right where we left off. I felt the happiest I ever have when I saw his face break through the crowd. A day I will never forget!
Permalink Reply by Maggie Downs on May 22, 2012 at 8:40pm We've had so many great times together it's hard to pick just one! My favorite has probably been the day he got his Airman's Coin after Basic Training. It was the first time we had been apart and our first time being reunited. To me, it proved that we can make it through anything, and no matter the time or distance, we love each other and we will be together in the end. Plus, seeing him in his blues for the first time didn't hurt :)
Permalink Reply by Katie Kirkpatrick on May 24, 2012 at 1:07pm The best day so for that I have had with my husband was when he went to my doctors appointment with me, to have an ultrasound and to hear the heartbeat for the 1st time. I was so excited to hear the babies heartbeat and see the baby on the ultrasound. But the best part was seeing the look on my husbands face when he saw the baby move on the ultrasound. He had the biggest smile on his face, smiling ear to ear. It made me cry to see him so happy! Can't wait to see his face when the baby is born!
Permalink Reply by Alyssa Hood on May 31, 2012 at 10:32pm I always replay the memory of him giving me the marine heart locket with our picture in it. He was so excited. :)
Permalink Reply by Emily Mangaudis on June 11, 2012 at 4:16pm Since Danny and I have only spent about 3 weeks together in the year long relationship we have had I guess every day that we spend together is a seperate memory that becomes one of the best. The one moment that always makes me giggle and sticks out the most in my head is a day he was home on leave. He had bought me a beautiful heart shaped diamond ring for Christmas and with my mothers help had it all sized and shipped back early so I would have it for New Years and before he left. He had surprised me with the ring one afternoon and then said he had another surprise for me. We drove all around town and into other towns and all he would tell me was, "maybe the surprise is here," then would drive somewhere else. After much frustration and a grumpy girlfriend he pulls back into his driveway and said, "Surprise!" My surprise was watching a movie with him and spending the rest of the afternoon with him lol
