I always wear my Marine Corps sweatshirt and I have a liscense plate that says "My heart belongs to a US Marine". Plus other things. I love to show my pride. How do you all show your pride?

I love the fact that no matter who I meet who has a loved one in the military, there's an immediate bond with that person. We just understand each other. What do you like?

Permalink Reply by Christina Erwin on February 27, 2012 at 2:16pm Oh gosh, it's so hard to think of just one. For me, it's the things that happen in the midst of an ordinary day. I think one instance that sticks with me the most is when I burnt dinner right after we got married and I got so upset. Next thing I know my husband was wrapping his arms around me and starts singing "eatin' burnt suppers the whole first year and askin' for seconds to keep her from tearing up. Yeah man that's the good stuff" (Kenny Chesney song). I melted!
Permalink Reply by Alyssa Hood on February 27, 2012 at 4:03pm My boyfriend kept a notebook that we used to pass notes to eachother during class when we were in high school together. I thought it was romantic that he still had a thing for me and kept it. He also got me a ton of valentine gifts right after christmas because he wouldn't be here for Valentines Day. When I visited him in Missouri, he gave me a marine's gf shirt and got me a very nice necklace and put it on my neck for me. It was very romantic. :D
Permalink Reply by Selina Butterworth on February 27, 2012 at 4:34pm Oh my gosh, it's hard to pick just one. For me, it's the little things he does. The biggest thing that he's done for me since we've started dating is what he did for me this Valentine's. He went out of his way to show me that he loves me. He know's how I feel about flowers. I think they're pretty, but I don't like receiving them all the time, because they die. Well on with my story LOL .... For the ENTIRE week of Valentine's, he had a different bouquet of flowers sent to my house each day. On the last day, I received chocolates & a card that asked me to be his girlfriend. He was sleeping when I received them. I called his Magic Jack as soon as I got them, letting him know I received his flowers & that I would be his one and only. He told me that I had made him the happiest man in the world!!
Permalink Reply by Stephanie Resanovich on February 27, 2012 at 4:42pm My boyfriend has done a lot of little things that are so cute. But I would say the best so far has to be when I was turning 15. It was by birthday and he came over and didnt have a gift or anything just a card. And we were laying on the living room floor watching a movie when he handed me the card. It was saying how much he loves me and always wants to be with me. And at the end of the card it said how the real gift was in his hands. After I read that I looked over at him and he has a ring box on his chest. I just smiled at him and kissed him without even opening it or even looking at it. He bought me a promise ring. And even to this day I wear it everyday.
Permalink Reply by Brianne Wells on February 27, 2012 at 5:50pm I didn't get to hear from him on Valentines day and we had just been in not really an argument but kind of like a disagreement so on February 16th, even though he's in Afghanistan, he had flowers sent to me with a teddy bear and chocolates! It was the cutest thing anyone has ever done for me. And the card that came in it made me bawl my eyes out. It said "I stopped the war for a day to make sure you got flowers. You're truly special to me, Brianne. Love, Corey" It was sooooo cute. It was such a surprise too. My sister and I were just pulling up to our house after school and there was a florist in our driveway which was weird, we thought maybe our dad had them delivered for our mom or something but I ran to the door to look at the card and I saw my name on it and before I even read it I saw it was from him and started crying soo hard. It was probably the happiest and most relieved I had ever felt.
Permalink Reply by jessica marriott on February 27, 2012 at 6:27pm i was driving to louisiana one day and i was having a rough day because i drove 6-7 hours to go see him..nothing went right..my car got hit by a girl in her vehicle and i had recieved court papers on custody for my daughter and i found out my mom had eye surgery and so on...it just wasnt a good day that day well he told me to put something pretty on and we was gonna out to dinner and have a drink...and so we went and it turned out to be a really great day in the end.
Permalink Reply by Jacqui Miret on February 27, 2012 at 7:40pm When I went to his BCT graduation, his mom was driving while he and I just decided to walk to our next destination. At one point, he took off the graduation ring he bought for himself and handed it to me saying "I know you don't have a lot of things from me, so I got this so I could give it to you."
It currently sits in a box with every letter he has sent me, along with pictures from that trip and the birthday card he gave me. :)
Another thing (I think it's cute, even though he didn't really have control over it) was when he was given a couple dates he could choose from for his Christmas leave to start. Along with wanting to be home ASAP, the earliest date was on my birthday. He told me that when he heard "December 18th" , the first thing he thought of was being here for my birthday.
Though I wish it could have been a week earlier that way I could have celebrated his 20th birthday with him. Oh well. Then again, if it had, I wouldn't have been able to watch the ball drop on New Years as I cuddled with him.
Permalink Reply by Rebekah Griffin on February 28, 2012 at 9:25am He does so many little things that are adorable and show me how much he loves me. The one afternoon he "kidnapped" me, grabbed some chinese food on the way and took me to a local state park. He threw a blanket out on the ground by the lake and we shared lunch and just snuggled in the sun by the water. Sounds a little corny, but the fact that he took the time out of his day to spend time with only me made filled my love tank to the brim. :)

Permalink Reply by Betsy Clotter on March 1, 2012 at 9:07am what doesn't he do ?! One time I will never forget is when he found out there was going to be a meteor shower, it was 3 nights before he was due to go to boot camp, and 2 nights before I was going back home, (I had just found out I was pregnant, and I was horribly sick) He tried so hard to get me out of the house that night mind you we were in Atlanta, GA it was like 34 degrees out, the time was 11 :30pm and I was just in a grumpy mood, I was craving hot chocolate, I knew he was leaving soon, so I saw no reason to leave the apartment. Finally he convinced me to bundle up and get out of the house. When we got in the car he just started driving, I asked where we were going and he told me I needed to get out of the house. He stopped to buy me son hot chocolate ! and then when i thought we were going home he stopped in the middle of nowhere and told me to look up. When I did I saw what looked liked shooting stars. I was so excited bc i have never seen anything like it. It was a wonderful way to spend one of our last nights together. That was a year and a month ago ! Oh how I miss him
Permalink Reply by Jessica Marie Kirsch on March 1, 2012 at 2:46pm Matt's done a bunch of really romantic things but the cutest thing in the entire world was when he was at basic. He used to write me as much as possible. One day he sent me a letter and it was the same as always, lots of stuff i didn't understand and telling me he missed me. But on top of the letter was a brown smear next to my name. next to the smear it said "some mud for you". Yes he sent me a smeared thumb print of mud. As dumb and goofy as it sounds it just made me feel a little closer to him. like we were having the conversation in person. it warmed my heart and made him being gone alot easier. (i still have it too :) )
Permalink Reply by Adria Banks on March 3, 2012 at 6:37pm This is going to sound strange but... he built me a table. We had changed duty stations to NAS Fallon in Nevada and the weather in late May/early June was getting uncomfortably warm. Energy conservation was a big concern as we were beginning to experience base-wide blackouts from everyone turning on their air conditioners at the same time (around 4pm). I had this idea that we could eat on the floor; all we'd need was a shorter, Japanese-style table. I ran the idea by my husband who immediately took out a tape measure and had me sit at various coffee tables around the house so he could measure the perfect height. He built it on Father's Day weekend. That was about 8 years ago and I still have the table. We don't eat at it any more but it's been a platform for our Christmas tree every year, a stage for my kids to perform on, a game table when we have friends over, etc... I still look at it and get all mushy inside. I'm going to keep that table until it falls apart!
