If you like country i would check out God Gave Me You by Blake Shelton :) I think its a great song and is pretty great for a situation like this

I do like country! But I'm not sure I've heard that song, so I'll look it up.

The only one I've been thinking is maybe "Lucky" by Jason Mraz, since it talks about coming home.

A Thousand Years by Christina Perri.  I know it's cliche because it was on the Breaking Dawn soundtrack but "I have died everyday waiting for you, darling don't be afraid I have loved you for a thousand years, I'll love you for a thousand more".

I also like that it talks about "one step closer" and that's deployment to a T. each day down is a step closer.  good luck!
