I always wear my Marine Corps sweatshirt and I have a liscense plate that says "My heart belongs to a US Marine". Plus other things. I love to show my pride. How do you all show your pride?

I love the fact that no matter who I meet who has a loved one in the military, there's an immediate bond with that person. We just understand each other. What do you like?

I feel like I've heard a million girls today complain about missing their boyfriend, who they haven't seen in a couple of days. I've even seen a bunch of my friends posting about it on facebook. I'm trying so hard not to be mean and snap at any of them. But it's been really hard not to today. One of my good friends made the comment that she hadn't seen her boyfriend in about a week this morning. Without thinking, I just turned and bluntly said "I haven't seen mine in over a month, and won't see him for a few more." She kind of had a stunned look on her face, like she didn't know what to say. I didn't mean to be rude, but it just came out. I have a feeling I'm not the only one who has experienced this. Any advice on how to handle all of this? I'm finding it harder and harder to pretend to feel sympathetic.

Permalink Reply by Emily Mangaudis on April 26, 2012 at 6:22pm I definitely understand where you're coming from and it's so frustrating but what you have to remember is, most people don't understand what it is like to love someone in the Military. You have to keep reminding yourself how much you love him and how proud you are of him. People subconciously say they miss their significant after, what seems to us, short periods of time. Just let them say it and remember why you are waiting in the first place.

Permalink Reply by Casey Polzin on April 26, 2012 at 9:22pm I see this all the time too. I just ignore it and think to myself, "They have no idea what it even means to miss someone." And truth is, their relationships probably aren't as strong as yours either. You can withstand months of being apart & barely being able to talk. Clearly they can't handle all you do. <3
Keep your head up! After all this, you will stronger than ever! & Text me if you need to talk! Here for you, girly <3<3<3

Permalink Reply by Alyssa Gaffoglio on May 9, 2012 at 7:51pm I'v e had such issues with this lately! So many people I'm surrounded by, complain about missing their boyfriends. All of them know Kyle is deployed, and know it's been months since I've seen him. I just try to remind myself that I can't make people understand. There is a reason God chose you to live this lifestyle. You have to be strong, and have A LOT of patience, and faith to get through the hard times. When you start feeling that way, remind yourself how much sweeter the time with your boy will be.
