CAMO - Connecting All Military Others
I love to hear how people met and fell in love. For me, Mike and I met at a Toby Keith concert. Out of a crowd of thousands of strangers, we found each other by fate. We had what people call love at first sight. When I met him we only had five days until he had to leave for Afghanistan. The days leading up we went on so many dates and lived every moment to its fullest. Then he left and we fell deeper in love through writing and phone calls for eight months. When he came home everything was amazing and perfect. Now in our second deployment we are still going strong. :)
Me & John met when i started working at the Armor School at Ft Knox where he was also working. After a couple months of working there I one day got home & recieved a text saying "who told you that you could leave?!" i knew it was him even though we'd never really talked before. we texted that whole day & night & from there it was history. we only talked for about 8 or 9 days before we started dating. we had to keep it a secret since we were working together, but to us, it was definitely worth it. as corny as it may sound he swept me off my feet. i've never cared or been in love with someone as much as i am with him. i know hes the one i wanna spend the rest of my life with ! can't wait to marry him & become a military wife
We were actually childhood family friends. My mom, his mom and his aunt were all best friends growing up, so when they all had kids, we all knew each other. We were actually born within less than a month of each other, and there's this great picture of both our moms holding us as newborns! His sister and I were always really close (this was the age when I thought boys had cooties, so I wanted nothing to do with him) but when his parents split up, he moved to Florida with his dad. I'm not sure how old we were when it happened but I didn't see him for years, while his dad continued to move him all over the place. It wasn't until the summer before I began college that I saw him again for the first time. He had moved back with his mom and was about to join the Corps. We were both eighteen and I was so intrigued by him, but we both had other relationships going at the time. My family joined his for a dinner to see him off before boot camp, and we caught up on so much lost time. Almost a year later, after my first year of college and his graduation from S.O.I., we met up again at his aunt's house to find out that we both were newly single... The rest is history :)
me and peter met at our church that we both attend. we started off as just friends and gotten closer. we then established a title as "best buddies" cause we gotten so close i knew he would be the best bff! after a couple months i started to have feelings for him and i just went with my gut instinct and told him how i felt and by surprise he felt the same way. so from there on we dated for 13 months. we broke up for 2 years and by god's grace we found our way to each others hearts once again and since then we've been stronger then ever and have been together for 3 1/2 years <3
My boyfriend and I met at a camp for AFJROTC. He was a flight cadre, (we had one female, and one male for each flight) and it just so happens I was in his flight. This camp was a week long, and there were things you had to do physically and mentally that you'd never have to do unless you were with the military. We did things like rappelling, scuba, and many others. The third day in, I had developed a crush... I thought it was stupid. Because I'd only be able to see him for 4 more days! Also, no fraternization would be tolerated at all... One day we were crossing wooden boards, (they were elevated off of the ground. We were told that there were "mines" if we hit the ground. Pretend, of course) he stood in the middle of the main board, to help people across. I was the 3rd person to go up. As I was crossing around him, I lost my balance, and began to fall... He grabbed me and went down with me.. (it was only like 7 ft down) but we were sitting on the sidelines afterwards, and I asked why he did it, and he said because he didn't want me to get hurt. :) I thought it was really sweet. That night, it rained. So things were kind of backed up. (everything is outside) so we had some extra time. People were getting their new friend's numbers and first names for Facebook or whatever, and I kinda walked up to him awkwardly and asked for his number... It was so embarrassing! But he gave it to me. After graduation, I didn't see him. I looked all around but I never found him. After camp, I went to the beach for 3 weeks and I didn't have my phone. We ended up getting connected over Facebook. The crush had kinda died off and he lives 2 hours away so I kinda lost hope.. Also, he was talking to another girl from our flight... (although she went to the same school as him) I was sort of upset but that's life..... We continued talking as friends, but the girl he was talking to went to China to see her family. So he thought she was ignoring him. We ended up talking more and more, until we finally told all about how we had crushes on each other at camp. I had NO idea he even liked me. It was so sweet. We kept contact, and we get to see each other every other weekend for a few hours while he's pole vaulting. :) I'm so happy with him. He went to MEPS just a few months ago, and he got accepted. He'll be leaving for basic training July 2nd. I'm so nervous! We've been together for almost 8 months now. We're ready to take on the future, and after I graduate I'll be going to the AF reserves and he says he wants me to live on base with him... But I guess we'll see :)
Me and Jo met in sixth grade! i saw him in the hallway the first day of middle school wearing jeans that were cuffed at the bottom and a blue football jerseyy he was soo cute i told all my friends i was gonna get him.! (yeah in sixth grade haha) it took like 3 months for me to even say hi to him. then one day me and my bestfriend at the time called him and me and him talked on the phone (we had the DUMBEST converstation about aim hahah) the next day he told his whole class he liked me. we dated in sixth grade then like all little kid relationships we broke up. we dated again in 8th grade and broke up because we were better as friends. We then became bestfriends and in 11th grade he moved to iowa with his dad adn we talked EVERYNIGHT. in 12th grade he moved back and invited me over one day and "nicely explained" why i shouldnt be with my bf at the time. So we got out of the friend zone and now 2years and some change later i couldnt imagion being with anyone else. he says weve been there for each other through everything in life so were ment to be(:
Warning: this is SUPER lengthy :]
John & I were sophomores in HS when we met. We had Spanish together with our mutual friend, Bryce. We all talked all the time (because let's face it..Spanish in HS is a joke) and became really good friends. I had a boyfriend at the time and John knew that. He listened to my problems and hung out with me without flirting with me, which if you ask him was terrible haha. He says he was in love with me the second he saw me :] All of my friends tried to convince me to date him but I strictly saw him as a friend. I was not a very bright 15 year old haha
Let's jump about 3 years. I left for college 6 hours away and my boyfriend and I were still together. John and I were still friends. He even had a girlfriend too. I finally broke up with my boyfriend and moved back home for the summer after my freshman year. John & I got together to catch up the day I got back and started talking ALL DAY every day. He broke up with his girlfriend before it crossed the line (they had been doing really bad for a few months. I'm talking fake pregnancies bad). We ended up dating for a year and broke up because we were both too immature to handle the distance.
We both had new significant others come and go for 2 1/2 years but talked regularly. I graduated from college this past July and moved back to Memphis and it was like deja vu. We spent a lot of time together for a month before deciding to give it another try. We've been back together for 7 months now and I really have no idea how we lived without each other for so long. He's in boot camp for the Navy right now and I'm counting down the days until I see him again. This is just the beginning of a long & happy life together :]
I met Tre when we both worked at the Commissary in Naval Station Newport, RI, about two years ago. My dad, who is with the Indonesian Navy was stationed there for diplomatic reasons, so we all had to move there from Maryland. I got to know his little sister Mia first and we instantly became best friends. One day, Tre visited Mia at work, I had no idea they were siblings. I started asking her about him and found out that he was going to start working there. Little did I know he was asking around about me, too. It was love at first sight :) He wasn't in the Navy then. We started off as friends, went on little Starbucks runs every time we had breaks together and started talking intensely after a while. One day, as I was leaving work, he ran after me and asked me if I had time to sit down and talk. He sat down and asked me out right away. He told me he tried to ask me out twice before. First time he was about to ask me out before our shifts started. We were outside sitting on a bench; he said the moment was perfect but right before he could say anything our supervisor came outside and joined us. Second time was when we were about to go on a Starbucks run, but it started raining so we had to rush back to the store. I couldn't help but laugh when he told me all that. After a few months of being together, I had to leave to Indonesia because of family matters. He joined the Navy a month before I left and went to bootcamp two months after. It was hard at that time because we had a taste of long distance relationship even before the military life. We have been together for a year and a half now, and I have been gone for about a year (I'm coming back in about 3-4 weeks and I am so excited to finally see him again!!) Our love is growing stronger every day. We support and trust each other. Never have I ever been so deeply in love with anyone before and not even a million miles between us could change that. He has made me realize what true love is supposed to feel like. He is the one I want to spend my forever with, I don't care even if it means I have to go through deployments and another separation. I love him too much to let go :)
We met at a bar. It was fate. I barely ever get out, but that night my mom offered to babysit my daughter for me so that I could go out with an old friend that I hadn't seen since high school. It was my first time going to this particular bar. Danny was only in town on TDY for 2 weeks. It was his first night in town & a bunch of guys decided to go out. It was so random how we met. We spent nearly everyday together until he had to leave. We kept talking & 5 weeks after we met, I flew out to Nellis (where he was stationed at the time) to visit him. I just knew that there was something special about him & that I didn't want to lose him! Now, we're getting married in December!
We met in 8th grade. We were best friends through high school. We both went to college he didn't like it, and joined the navy. Still good friends I'd go visit him or go home the same weekends he was home. After we both had failed engagements. At his brother wedding ... lots of drunkness and screwing. haha. Then we were together.
The first time I saw the boy who would grow into the man I would someday marry was the last day of school of my freshman year in High School. His cousin got on my bus after school and I was confused as to where he was going. He said his cousin had just moved to my hometown and that he was going to his house. So I asked him what road he lived on to see if I had seen him around town. Turns out it was my road. To be more exact, it was the house 975 feet down the road from mine and I never even knew!
He and his family had moved in at the end of May. I wanted to go with him to meet my new neighbor but I already had a babysitting commitment I couldn't get out of. I did get to see Eric through the bus window though and it was attraction at first sight for me. He was the dark handsome bad-boy looking type that I was into. I started walking my dog up and down the road in the hopes of meeting him but he stayed in his room almost all summer.
We finally met a couple days before school started again and once it had we were both taking French class (him in Intro, me in year 2) and wasn't doing so well. My french teacher asked me to tutor him. We raised his grade from an F to a B- during the same time that we were falling for each other. (Or rather that he was falling for me since I was already fallen for him)
The rest is history. Now we're married and expecting our first child in late March / early April 2013.
