I love the fact that no matter who I meet who has a loved one in the military, there's an immediate bond with that person. We just understand each other. What do you like?

So, I live in Florida and my boyfriend has just been stationed in Hawaii. He's really excited about being there, and I'm really excited for him, but this 6 hour time difference is already kicking our butts.

If I don't completely reset my sleep schedule, we'll almost never be able to talk.

Since I know quite a few of you have had to deal with this kind of thing, so I'm asking for help, advice, words of encouragement, anything.

My husband and my time difference is about 12 hours, and he'll call when i've already went to bed or early in the morning on my day off but I jump at every moment to speak to him. Do whatever you can to talk to him. Sometimes we forget this, but they NEED us. So talking to him could be all he needs to make it through.

My girlfriend is stationed in south korea and I am in Illinois. That puts us at a 14 hour time difference. My day is her night and my night is her day. I have also reversed my sleep schedule to be able to talk to her and maintain our relationship. It's not the easiest thing in the world to put up with or deal with. My 3pm is when she is waking up for pt and to start her day. that shows you a little of how backwards it is. I'm always here to talk and I am full of ideas on how to adjust if you want some advice.

My Fiance is stationed in Germany, so I can relate to you with the time difference. The first couple of days when he got there, they were kind of crazy, but as soon as he got his room, he got a phone number and internet, and as crazy as it might sound we pretty much talk everyday. My morning is afternoon, so he always calls me before I head out to work, I come home from work, and I get to wake him up for PT, he comes back from PT, and I go to sleep, and same thing the following day. On my days off it's more calm. Only time when we don't talk is when he is out on the field, or the range, but even that he always trys to call me from a friends phone. He always tells me "as tired as I am i have to always talk to you", and same thing goes for me, I may be really tired from work, but I have to talk to him. It is hard to adjust, but after a week or two, it's going to be a piece of cake, I have been doing this for 2 years, so I can tell you it does get easier.

My fiance is also in Hawaii. And I'm in Illinois so it's 5 hours. And honestly I just got used to staying up til like 2 am when he goes to bed which is around 9 pm there. It can take its toll on you sometimes but my body has actually adapted to it pretty well. You get used to it (:
